Bonjour à tous, voici les dernières nouvelles de vos globe-trotters préférés!Nous sommes rentrés mecredi d'une semaine à Istanbul, ce fut vraiment très dépaysant de découvrir pour la première fois un pays à majorité islamique. Cette destination fut très différente par rapport aux séjours précédents.
Nous avons découvert cette ville magnifique avec un autre français de Budapest et deux amies françaises de Moscou.
Voici en détail notre riche programme de la semaine :
Mercredi 26 :
Nous sommes arrivés en fin d'après-midi et avons tout de suite apprécié le temps très appréciable à ce moment de l'annnée (entre 25 et 30°C l'après-midi). Notre auberge de jeunesse était très bien placée, à 100m de la station de tram Gülhane pour les initiés. Premier tour dans le parc de Gülhane qui est le plus vaste parc public d'Istanbul, très agréable. Puis balade du côté de Ste Sophie et de la Mosquée bleue. Nous avons passé la soirée dans le centre ville d'Istanbul du côté de la tour de Galata construite en 1368 par les Génois puis dîner dans l'avenue Istiklal qui est l'axe principal du quartier chrétien avec un français d'Istanbul. Nous avons d'ailleurs juste avant le dîner goûté à notre premier çay (thé) qui est incontournable en Turquie et qui est certainement le sport national(!)
Mosquée Soliman le Magnifique Süleymaniye qui est considérée comme la plus belle des moquées impériales d'Istanbul.
Le Grand Bazar qui est l'un des plus grands au monde avec plus de 3000 boutiques!
Mosquée du Grand Vizir Rüstem Pacha qui a épousé la fille préférée de Soliman le Magnifique.
Arrivée de nos deux françaises depuis Moscou.
Vendredi 28 :
Visite de Ste Sophie Ayasofia, qui est à l'origine l'église de la Ste Sagesse (comme à Kiev pour nos lecteurs fidèles). La basilique a été ouverte en 537, transformée en mosquée en 1453 lors de la prise de Constantinople et enfin transformée en musée en 1934 par Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, fondateur et premier président de la République turque. Quinze siècles d'histoire religieuse à observer!
Visite de la Citerne Basilique Yerebatan Sarnici qui est une importante citerne souterraine.
Balade du côté du palais de Dolmabahçe Dolmabahçe Sarayi construit entre 1842 et 1853 où les sultans s'y sont installés, quittant le palais de Topkapi. Atatürk en fit sa résidence d'été quand il prit le pouvoir et y mourut en 1938.
Samedi 29 :
Visite du palais de Topkapi, la résidence du sultan ottoman de 1465 à 1853.
Visite de la Mosquée bleue Sultanahmet camii, facilement reconnaissable car c'est la seule de Turquie qui est entourée de six minarets.
Balade vers l'église du Pantocrator, malheureusement fermée.
Match de rugby Clermont-Perpignan, finale du Top 14, retrouvailles avec la France.
Dimanche 30 :
Visite de St Sauveur in Chora, magnifique église byzantine avec des fresques et des mosaïques en qualité et en quantité.
Visite de l'église de Panaghia Pammakaristos qui fut le siège du patriarcat orthodoxe. Elle a été transformée en mosquée en 1591 puis en musée. Elle se place au 3e rang après St Sauveur in Chora et Ste Sophie pour la richesse de ses mosaïques.Balade le long des murailles de Constantinople dite de "Théodose" qui furent achevées en 413, puis aperçu des ruines du palais de Constantin.
Lundi 31 :
Journée sur l'île de Büyükada qui est la plus grande des îles constituant les îles des Princes dans la mer de Marmara (mer de marbre), côté asiatique.
Mardi 1er juin :
Visite du musée archéologique, du musée de la mosaïque et de la Petite Ste Sophie qui fut une église érigée en 530 puis une mosquée.
Mercredi 2 juin :
Retour à Budapest : 14°, pluie...
Nous ne vous avons pas détaillé les nombreuses pauses pour savourer çay (thé), Türk kahvesi (café turc), raki (pastis turc), baklava, loukoum, döner, kebab... mais rassurez vous, nous avons fait honneur à la cuisine turque!
Pour information nous partons à Belgrade dimanche et lundi puis le chemin du retour approchera rapidement.
Some news from our last trip in Istanbul! This week was really exotic and it was very interesting to discover for the first time an islamic country. This destination was very different compared with other trips. We discovered this magnificent city with an other French from Budapest and two French from Moscow.

Wednesday 26th :
We were arriving in the end of the afternoon and we appreciated the climate which is very appreciable at this moment of the year (about 27°C). Our youth hostel had a good location, at 100m from tramstation Gülhane for people who know. First walking in Gülhane Park which is the biggest of Istanbul and after we observed Holy Sophie and the Blue Mosque. We passed the evening in the downtown near Galata tower built in 1368 by Genoese then dinner in Istiklal. We tasted çay (tea) which is the must in Turkey.
Thursday 27th :
Soliman Mosque Süleymaniye which is considered as the most beautiful imperial mosque of Istanbul.
The Grand Bazaar which is one of the biggest in the world with 3000 shops!
The Grand Vizier Rüstem Pacha Mosque he married daughter of Soliman.

Friday 28th :
Visit of Holy Sophie Ayasofia, which is originally the church of Holy Wisdom (like in Kiev for our faithful readers). The Basilic was opened in 537, transformed in mosque in 1453 during the taking of Constantinople and finaly transformed in museum in 1934 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder and first president of the Turkish Republic. Fifteen centuries of religious histories to observe!
Visit of Basilica Cistern Yerebatan Sarnici which is a huge underground cistern.
Walking near the Dolmabahçe Palace built between 1842 and 1853 where sultans lived, so they left the Topkapi Palace. Atatürk did it his summer residence when he took the power and died there in 1938.
Saturday 29th :
Visit of the Topkapi Palace, residence of ottoman sultan from 1465 to 1853.
Visit of the Blue Mosque Sultanahmet camii, easily recognizable because it is the only one in Turkey which is surrounded with six minarets.
Walking to the Pantocrator church, unfortunately closed.
Rugby match Clermont-Perpignan, final of Top 14 and reunion with France!
Sunday 30th :
Visit of the church St. Savior in Chora, magnificent Byzantine church with frescoes, mosaics in quality and in quantity.
Visit of the church of Panaghia Pammakaristos which was the headquarters of orthodox patriarcat. It was transformed in mosque in 1591 then in museum. This mosque is in the third place after St. Savior in Chora and Holy Sophie for the mosaics.
Walking along Constantinople walls which were achieved in 413.
Monday 31st :
Day on the Büyükada island which is the biggest island constituent the Princes' Islands in the Marmara Sea, Asiatic side.
Tuesday 1st June :
Visit of archeologic museum, mosaic museum and Little Hagia Sophia which was a church built in 530 then a mosque.
Wednesday 2nd June :
We were coming back in Budapest : 14°, clouding...
We did not talk about many breaks that we done to try çay (tea), Türk kahvesi (Turkish coffee), raki, baklava, loukoum, döner, kebab... but do not worry, we honored the Turkish food!
For information, we go to Belgrade Sunday and Monday then we will come back on Friday in France.
